he sounds a bit like scott stapp in some points (studio stapp – not live stapp cuz live stapp sucks)
Never get tired of listening to this one.
this cover is so f*n special
@heyyninaa i know!! he used to be soooo cool. his pre-idol stuff was so much better. i still love him, i just preferred his older music to the over-produced crap coming from him now.
His cover of Simple Mind’s “Don’t You Forget About Me” uses this lower range, even if it is sort of 80′s pop. Love that lower range, but all the other too.
If you haven’t already, please come by and check out my version of Creep by Radiohead on my channel. Don’t forget to subscribe and rate the videos. Thank you so much!
idol turned him into a pussy :’(
Love anything he puts out, but really look forward to when he can sing songs that are more edgy
Amazing cover.
Three years later, and I’m still amazed.
better than Radiohead…
Just breathtaking
For this to be a live cover…..Just Wow….This dude has awesome vocal talent. Goosebumps
Wow he really is trying to do the grunge voice too much. It’s like Eddie Vedder, Scott Stapp and Scott Weiland all combined.
Actually.. This sounds like Creed.
Why is this happening to me? How can you cover this song and skip the guitar scratches? Its the main reason to cover the fucking song. lol
best cover so far.. love this guy <3
nice voice…damn
I have never heard a recording of a live performance more amazing than this one. Good grief what a voice.
This is what David Cook’s debut album should have sounded like! Not that pussy that American idol turned him into. American Idol turned him into a pop star. I like David Cook much better whne he was with Axium.
This is one of the very VERY few covers that I actually prefer to the original. In my book, David cannot give a bad performance. It’s just not possible.
David Cook sang this song perfectly….I can listen to it for hours. Course…..”he could sing the phoneok, dawg.”

HA! Great job! I’m impressed!
I adore this man!!
What is it about this voice, in all its incarnations, that is so intriguing, amazing, soothing, arousing, fascinating, deep. Unlike some much touted, technical voices, it goes straight to the core. Nothing false or pretentious or contrived. Rather real, speaks to the human experience. Crazy about it.
